Our Temple
Sister Spirit Sanctuary is at this time a temple without walls; it is in no one permanent space but exists in the minds and heart of the women and sisters of the Temple. The temple is continuously evolving, changing and growing and stands wherever we are and choose to be. It is founded upon The Four Principles of our Philosophy : H.E.R.S
Healing- It is important for the spirit of Women to consciously seek and receive deep healing from the abuses of the patriarchal society we live in. As women-born-women, we are socialized and conditioned to believe that we are deserving of the punishment and abuses we receive simply because we are women. We grow up believing that the truth of our pain is not important or does not exist. We grow up living with the shame ("the curse") of our female bodies and processes as cycling and bleeding women. We seek to heal these wounds together.
Education-We seek healing of our womanspirits through the gaining of knowledge and understanding. By doing so, we can learn both of the causes of our wounds and how we can effect change within ourselves and in the world to create a world where these wounds no longer need be a normal part of a woman's life.
Responsibility-As woman and people of the earth, we are responsible for our thoughts, our ideas and our creative processes. The responsibility of our lives happiness is our own. We understand that we always have choices and we choose to make or not make them; even non-choice is a choice one makes.
Sisterhood-One of the most important and powerful relationships women can develop and experience is sisterhood. Yet women hate other women and see them as the enemy, competition and rivals to be feared. Many women have never experienced or believed that it was possible to experience a loving and supportive relationship within a group of women. Our Sister Circles are healthy and fertile ground for growing, developing and experiencing sisterhood.
When possible, we try to connect with nature as much as possible. We try to utilize the beautiful and scenic park systems for creating Temple space to host gatherings and meetings in weather that is permitting and we can find a public space to a private surrounding, which can be difficult outdoors. Because of the intimacy of our circles, we find privacy and freedom from external distractions conducive to our work. Other times we set up temple space at the private dwelling of a sister of the temple or the center-circle priestess, Rev. Aura's home. During the cold months, depending upon the gathering, we will meet up in the Temple space in the home of our center-circle priestess Rev. Aura.
We hold the vision of creating a brick and mortar Temple place of Goddess here in Northeast Ohio for women seeking Goddess and sisterhood. This is a goal that has manifested itself in the astral realms but is going to take time, hard work and donations of every kind to help bring this vision to manifestation in the physical realm. With the dedication and support of the women of the Temple and of the people of the community, this vision of a permanent Temple will become a physical reality. Any type of donation is appreciated.
