Sister Spirit Sanctuary was born from the deep need and passion for a place of women-only circles that catered to and celebrated the mysteries of women. A place for women to gather together, a place to learn about and create and experience divine sisterhood. A place to reclaim the ancient power and sacredness of being a woman and honoring the Divine Feminine and so Aura pushed forth to create such a place. It was within the month of September of 2007 and with the support of few other supporters and circle midwives that Sister Spirit Sanctuary was birthed in Akron, OH. It is the first and only circle dedicated to women-born-women only and their sacred mysteries as women.
Ever evolving, changing and growing, in July of 2009, Sister Spirit Sanctuary began to change direction, yet never deviating from the original purpose and focus of serving women and Goddess. Sisters have come and sisters have gone but each leaving something behind and taking something with them of value in the process. In August of 2009, instead of being a local circle of women in northeast Ohio, we hold the greater vision of being a Temple for all women in a physical setting as well as virtual. We now have a forum in which women from all over the globe can connect as well as creating our own cyber-circle! We are grateful for such abundant blessings of growth!
While our circle started out with concern for the women of the local community in which we live, we are now connecting with women and Goddess Temples throughout the world. We are part of a larger sisterhood and relish taking part of this global change. We believe in what we do and want to encourage them and help them in every way we can, the women of Sister Spirit Sanctuary, A Temple of the Divine Feminine hold the vision of creating a permanent Goddess Temple--a worship and community center that will serve and support women and young girls and their spiritual needs.
Temple of Goddess of Northeast Ohio
In our vision to create a permanent Temple of Goddess here in Northeast Ohio is to follow the footsteps of Ava Park our primary source of inspiration, who birthed The Goddess Temple of Orange County. It is presently, the only temple in the world of its kind. It is a place for women to come and celebrate their Divine Feminine selves in Goddess. Currently, we do not have anything like here in Northeast Ohio that is solely dedicated to nurture and celebrate the sweet souls of women. There are Goddess Temples and circles in Ohio that serve Goddess; however, none are exclusively devoted to women-born-women and their mysteries. With guidance, love and support that we receive from Goddess, our sisters around the world and other Dianic and Goddessian based organizations, this vision for our own permanent Temple of Goddess will come to manifest right here in Northeast Ohio.
